I was watching the news last night -- the national news on a station I'll not mention. I noticed that everything the reporters said characterized President Bush, the Administration, and the war in a negative way. The whole report seemed to cast shadows over everything pertaining to anything happening in the President's office -- even good news! As Brad pointed out, we really shouldn't care what France or any of Europe thinks about our governing body or our decisions -- they don't own us. ...

The US should not send aid to Iraq in the form of grants, but rather in the form of low interest loans. Our country has never shied from loans or even borrowing from ourselves. We are rich in resources and we use those to fuel our country and economy – we then use those booms to repay our loans. In theory, anyway. We have a huge debt. Yet we, being one of the most generous countries and populaces, are always giving grants and aid to foreign countries. Iraq is a resource-rich country. We’r...

I'm not what you would call strictly a Palestinian sympathizer. I am one of those who remember Jerusalem in prayer regularly -- as well as all those affected by this war. I pray Israel makes right decisions with its power. I am including in my blog some political cartoons from a Palestinian site: http://rafah.virtualactivism.net/details/cartoons.htm. And as long as it's not wanted, then it's not a person. Liberals believe the government should help provide abortions for those who cannot afford them through use of public taxes. Conservatives vehemently disagree. Why don't we just recycle that tissue? I mean really? The tissue could be used to make a fine delicacy and ...

A talking head was being interviewed on the PBS coverage of the convention. I wish I had gotten the guy’s name, though if I listen to talk radio tomorrow, I’m sure it will be covered. He was asked about what issues democrats are covering. He said they were staying away from certain issues, naming three in particular. Two of the three he named were “gay marriage” and “gays.” He finished the sentence by saying they were going to try to cover economics and things that interested the American...

Multiculturalism is just as elusive and immaterial as the laser beam my cat loves to chase. And I’m seeing plenty of cat’s interested in chasing this particular laser beam. Culture Defined First, some basics so we’re all using the same terms. A culture is a set of beliefs, norms, and values shared by a group of people. Any culture can be further divided into sub-cultures. For instance, one can see that a person between the ages of 13 and 19 belong to what could be considered an umbrell...

New London, Connecticut is attempting damage control resulting from public outrage at the recent Supreme Court decision. But here's a snippet from their website: “The most notable result of these efforts is the recent completion of Pfizer, Inc.'s $300 million dollar Global Research and Development Headquarters on the City's waterfront. This is what New London is all about.” -- from the New London, Connecticut website, today. http://ci.new-london.ct.us/nlpages/general_information_sp.htm...
